Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice About FALL!
PART 1: Fall in Love with Routine
This is my favorite time of year! In my opinion, there is a cozy comfort feeling that fall brings. The sweet smells of spice, the warm colors, apple/pumpkin picking, comfy layers of clothing that embrace the cool air, camp fires, hayrides, and Friday night lights. SOOO many lovely bits of fall, I don’t know where to begin. Luckily, I have 3 months to cover all the bases.
The first sign that fall is upon us isn’t the leaves changing, it’s the bright yellow bus! School is back in session and with that comes the realization that summer is over ☹. September marks the beginning of a new school year and with that, the return to our rituals and routines. No more late starts to the day and hitting the snooze a few extra times (hand raise emoji guilty). Time to get up and get your day started with a cup of Pumpkin Spice Coffee and a cinnamon donut or perhaps, going back a few months in my blog articles to March Madness, a new workout routine. Whatever gets your blood pumping and ready to take on the day.
Returning to a routine is like hitting the refresh button. A routine may sound boring to some, but it is necessary as it provides us with structure and familiarity. Structure is a way of organizing our life so that it creates meaning and provides us with direction. Studies show that routines, even as simple as that morning cup of coffee and scroll through Pinterest, can give us both pleasure and peace of mind.
Life is all about balance, mix the ordinary with spontaneity. Allow the weekends to be more care-free and unplanned. Take a trip to the apple orchard, or go on a Fall Scavenger Hunt, stage your home with Fall décor or become a spectator at a football game (HS, College or NFL your choice). If it’s a rainy chilly day or just because, cozy up on the couch with a blanket cup of Hot Apple Cider, kettle corn and binge-watch something on your favorite streaming app or get lost in a book.
Hope you embrace the season of change with your new routines and rituals before hibernating from what lies ahead!
Stay tuned for a Spooktacular Part 2, October blog.
